16th SEASON
3/28/2011
Lincoln Park, MI - As the ice slowly melts on the 16th FNHC season, the long time Commissioner has announced his retirement and has named his successor. In an emotional press conference, between tears and wiping his nose with his silken handkerchief, FNHC Commissioner La Package handed over the FNHC reins to a much more youthful and energetic Ringer.
"I cannot summarize all the memories and friendships over the last 18 years. It feels very odd handing this off...but the time is right," said La Package as he bowed his head to gather himself.
Ringer was given a ringing endorsement by the FNHC players. "Perfect" said Tool Time. "Good man, I really like that idea" was Vunderkindt's reaction. "Genius, that's why you had the big chair, I can think of no one better to take your place" added Slava.
"I expected Vunderkindt or Tool Time to step up to the plate," said the more than middle age Iron Orr, "but Bobby was the obvious choice with his proven recruiting skills, on-ice leadership and passionate love for the Sport of Kings and the FNHC. I am in total support of Ringer's ascension into the FNHC's Big Chair."
And so the torch was passed as La Package stepped aside and handed the FNHC reins to Ringer. "I'm honored and humbled to be named only the 2nd Commissioner of the Friday Night Hockey Club," said a visibly delighted Ringer. "I will do everything in my power to carry on the tradition of 'Hockey, Fun, Beer and Hotdogs' that was established by the previous regime. I will endeavor to continue the spirit of sportsmanship, comraderie and commitment to the League that La Package so adroitly established. I have big shoes to fill and I assure you I will fill them well and honorably uphold the legacy of La Package's esteemed leadership."
As the FNHC personnel began to gray and grow older and slower an infusion of new talent was needed to keep the FNHC alive and position the league for future on-ice competition, aerobic exercise, and Friday Night fun. Ringer showed 100% commitment to the league, an uncanny ability to attract new players and infuse the League with youthful talent and thus earned the lofty perch upon which he now sits. The future of the FNHC is now in his capable hands and we are all looking forward to the next 16 years of the Friday Night Hockey Club!
All smiles as Ringer accepts FNHC Comissioner's puck.
