16th SEASON

Lincoln Park, MI - On a warm and dry Friday in early March, all seemed well at the FNHC as the players jawed at each other in the pregame locker room. In an otherwise uneventful night with the usual 20 players, Tool Time making repairs and scoreboard component recoveries, Slava and La Package slowly, gently skating around to warm up their old bones and muscles... everything was going along according to plan. Then early in the first period, Frey went into the corner to dig for the puck. As he charged for the puck, he was met at the boards by Vito and in a freakish moment down went Frey in agony. Writhing in pain and grabbing for his leg, the initial observations did not look good.
The FNHC players quickly jumped into action and called 911. Soon the ambulance arrived and whisked the long time LiteSider off to the hospital to be checked out. The outlook was not good. Frey fractured his leg in several places, so the doctors admitted him immediately and wheeled him off to surgery. After several hours, Frey emerged from surgery with a rod in his leg and a long rehab ahead of him.
"The prognosis looks good," the FNHC Commissioner stated in an early Saturday morning press conference, "he should have a full recovery and be stronger than ever with a titanium rod in his leg, but it will be a long process."
The FNHC wishes Frey a speedy and complete recovery!
