What Do These Men Have in Common??

Lincoln Park, MI - Like Steve Austin, "a man barely alive" after a terrible accident in a Northrup M2-F2 in the 1970's TV series "The Six Million Dollar Man," Tool Time was a man whose hockey game was barely alive until he recently emerged from successful, but season-ending, shoulder surgery. Since the surgery was completed about a month ago, Tool Time has been working to rehabilitate the shoulder in preparation for the 2010-2011 FNHC season next fall.

"At this point, I do feel kinda like the Six Million Dollar Man," smiled Tool Time, "even though my surgery only cost about $230,000. ... more...

FNHC CHAMP OF THE WEEK

FNHC Champ Batman

"IVAN"

The FNHC's own Phat Ivan led the U.S. Pond Hockey team to a championship victory in the Goose Island 2010 pond hockey tournament. Although it required that Ivan take a sabbatical from the FNHC in order to participate in the tournament, it was time well spent.

"To play outside, in the fresh air on a pond was a great experience in itself, but to come home with the championship trophy that was just icing on the cake," the long-time FNHC skater said during the trophy presentation. "It's not like I'm abandoning the FNHC altogether, I just wanted to expand my lung capacity and hone my skills for the 2010 FNHC Slava Cup Playoffs. This was a great opportunity to do just that and we learned what it takes to win out there on the frozen pond.

Ice hockey was born on Long Pond in Windsor, Nova Scotia around 1800. Since then, the game has grown in popularity and moved from frozen ponds and lakes into indoor, climate controlled arenas throughout the world. Outdoor pond-hockey tournaments, like the Goose Island 2010 contest, are gaining in participation during the winter months in the northern U.S. and Canada. "It's great to see guys from the FNHC participating in pond hockey tournaments," commented FNHC commissioner La Package, "it's real important that we stay connected to the roots of this gre ...

FNHC UPDATE

FROM THE LEAGUE: Well...this week Tool Time will have to live up to his name. Why? Last week one of our brightest members threw the SSU fob into a crevasse at the end of the boards, it fell through the seam between boards and shelf for water bottles...Tool Time has accepted the challenge of taking apart a section of the boards inside the bench area - not affecting ice where play is- and retrieve the important fob. "I have the tools, I have the technology, I understand the mission clearly" he announced.

CJ had some technical difficulties getting his visor on his helmet in a condition he could see through, so with out the visor he took two pucks to the face during the skate. No bleeding...but another reminder to have all your equipment and to wear all your protective gear.

Gump and Dano played their combined best of the year, and they both are expected back in net this week. The puck supply has been dwindling exceptionally fast since our move to the new rink, so this week its "Bring a puck to hockey night!" Help the red bag of pucks become heavier, bring a couple to add.

The official apology from Slava and Iron Orr (aka, Les Paul) for their wussy "too much snow" whining-excuse for slackin last week is expected soon.

Big D's kid had another great night in goal so the Allen Park High hockey team is moving on through state playoffs, "good luck" to them tomorrow! (Regional finals could be on home ice Saturday if they win Thurs.)

We look forward to the LAST NINE SKATES OF THE YEAR BEFORE PLAYOFFS! This year a best of three series is being planned, eligibility/details/options/captains/facility all need to be clarified in the coming weeks. The FNHC would like to stick to our tradition of playoffs in May, so the 7th, 14th and 21st would be the dates.

'til next week
