WOW! So This is What a Real Arena is Like

Lincoln Park, MI - Wow, what a difference a rink makes. The FNHC made its skating debut at the Lincoln Park Community Center ice arena this past Friday night. And a delightful debut it was. "Look Mo, automatic flushers!," hollered Slava as Iron Orr entered the locker room. "Yeah, and automatic doors when you walk in the rink," replied the veteran FNHC defenseman. The first impressions were tremendous and only made better by remembering the rundown state of our previous (but much-loved) facility.

The teams exited their respective locker rooms, and hea ... more...

FNHC Champ of the Week

FNHC Champ Frey

Goalie Dano led the LiteSide championship effort with spectacular play between the pipes in the 2009 Slava Cup playoffs. His ultimate effort came in the deciding Game 4 where he stoned the DarkSide marauders holding them to an FNHC record 3 goals over 90 minutes of play. "I give all the credit to my teammates," said the soft-spoken, humble goaltender, "They played tight defense all night. They clearly wanted it more than the DarkSide. I made some stops at important moments, but the hard-nosed defensive effort of my teammates made for easy work in net."

On the upcoming 2009-2010 season, Dano said this: "I'm excited to get back on the ice for the upcoming season. We established our dominance in the playoffs last year, so it will be interesting to see if we can regain the momentum in the regular season this year."

FNHC UPDATE

FROM THE FNHC OFFICES: It was unanimous! The Lincoln Park Ice Arena will be our home rink for the rest of the season, with a starting time of 9:30pm on Friday nights.

"Good job Commish"  Batman; "Best ice I've ever skated on" - Vito; "Outside automatic doors open for ya" - Gump; "Nice hot showers, feels like a message" -Vunderkindt; "The lighting is so much better for pictures" - Iron Orr; "Same cost as other place" - Package; "Easy to work the scoreboard" - Tool Time; " A definite upgrade" - Ricci; "Excellent location" - Dano; "Huge locker rooms, for #%* sake you can move around" - Slava; "All good to me" - a smiling Esposito; "This is the first rink I ever skated at, knew this place when it was a sledding hill" - Rocket; "This is much better in every way" - Salming; "A real rink and locker room, I say we stay" - Domi;  and finally, "Don't f this up" - Batman.

"We anticipate making this our new home rink. We do also hope to be able to occasionally skate in other locations (as we have we done this year). A new tradition I guess. Our loyalty to our previous home is unquestionable, the lack of quality in that facility became such that to continue to recruit players, clean oneself, and stay free of major ruts in soft ice, it was decided we had to move forward.
"We thank Big D for his efforts to secure our new arena, and we anticipate every one of you that comes to our sessions now - will leave impressed by the ice and all other attributes mention above. There is no better way to begin the next 15 years of the FNHC than to improve every aspect of the FNHC experience, and to make sure the place we support with over a $1,000 a month gives our athletes the best possible facility to play the game they love."
